Olive Oil Soap Recipe - Try These for Professional Quality Homemade Soap

Olive oil soap, also commonly know as Castile soap, is thought to be one of the oldest types of soap in existence.  While the city of Venice is the known origin of the first white soap factories, olive oil soap originated in the Castile region of Spain and may have first appeared on the Greek Island of Crete. Olive Oil soap reached the shores of Southern France in Marseille some time after its appearance in Crete and as the excellent qualities of this soap were shared it became a soap that is continued to be used today. Olive oil soap is gentle to the skin, leaves no residue and is a wonderful soap to include in a soap recipe collection. There are many formulations and countless variations from which to choose.  Olive oil soap is the perfect formulation for dry and sensitive skin but every skin type will benefit from its gentle soothing and cleansing properties.

The following four recipes are ingredients to use with the cold process soap making method. The listed ingredients, when combined with a lye mixture, will produce four different but heavenly results.  These recipes are four of the the many recipes of soap maker extraordinare, David Fisher. It would be nearly impossible to find any that could surpass these in quality and variety.

Olive Oil Soap Recipes:

Recipe #1

·         80% olive oil

·         10% palm oil

·         10% coconut oil

Or, to make about 4.5 lbs of soap, you would use:

·         40 oz. olive oil

·         5 oz. palm oil

·         5 oz. coconut oil

·         16 oz. water

·         6.7 oz. lye

·         Between 1.5 and 2.2 oz of fragrance or essential oil, according to your preference

Recipe #2

  • 60% olive oil
  • 20% palm oil
  • 20% coconut Oil
Or, to make about 4.5 lbs of soap, you would use: 30 oz. olive oil

  • 10 oz. palm oil
  • 10 oz. coconut oil
  • 16 oz. water
  • 7 oz. lye
  • Between 1.5 and 2.2 oz of fragrance or essential oil, according to your preference
Recipe #3

·         60% olive oil

·         10% palm oil

·         20% coconut oil

·         10% canola oil

Or, to make about 4.5 lbs of soap, you would use:

·         30 oz. olive oil

·         5 oz. palm oil

·         10 oz. coconut oil

·         5 oz. canola oil

·         16 oz. water

·         6.9 oz. lye

·         Between 1.5 and 2.2 oz of fragrance or essential oil, according to your preference

Recipe #4

·         80% olive Oil

·         20% coconut Oil

Or, to make about 4.5 lbs of soap, you would use:

·         40 oz. olive oil

·         10 oz. coconut oil

·         16 oz. water

·         6.9 oz. lye

·         Between 1.5 and 2.2 oz of fragrance or essential oil, according to your preference
